faint shadows dancing
behind smooth flimsy curtain
ghoulish puppetry
thunder and flashes
whizzing past turbid waters
ripples created
Images of precious past..

there is a juxtaposition between ‘precious’ past and the imagery…when you use words like ghoulish, thunder, and turbid…hmm….
Kavita said:
glad you acknowledged the contrast, Brian.. I appreciate your reading “into” the poem.. thanks a bunch, my friend..
Alice Audrey said:
So are you saying the precious past went down the drain?
This kind of reminds me of Plato’s concept of life as a mere reflection of a deeper reality – shadows on the wall.
Kavita said:
you were the only one to decipher it, Alice 😉
As for shadows on the wall, that phrase has a super pronounced effect on me!! (sigh) Reminds me of a whole lot of things…

And those flashes take such a long detour, and yet, last only a few seconds. Strange, yet, hard to live without.

‘Images of precious past’…yes, those images are precious, because they represent our lives captured in vignettes. Sometimes like a movie, sometimes like a snapshot, almost like the pages of a photo album.
Merry Christmas to you, Kavita.

Eaton
