How I write, is mine…How you read, is yours

~ Most of us feel it, some don't. Some of us say it, some don't. Some may agree, some won't. Be as it may, the facts still remain.

Despite all the promises made
Of never leaving the other
To him a farewell she bade
For her, he was just another

With his desire torn and ground
And a heart like crusted earth
He chose to listen to the sound
Of his whims for what it’s worth

Beside a blooming clover’s toe
Now patiently he waits
Eyes full of jilted lover’s woe
And fenced in memories’ gates

With purplish oceans of belief
A flower he softly holds
Hoping to heave sighs of relief
As love in time unfolds

But as the tides of seasons ebb
And strength begins to fray
In his mind, grows a thin cobweb
Of dreams and faces gray

I stood there
Screaming
Dreaming
Trapped in my own reflection
Or was I the mirror instead?
Was I to get some response?
Or was this just a sconce?

I felt surrounded
Alone
Forlorn
Waiting for a reaction
From any “one” distorted figure
But all they did was stare
Their all-mercurial glare

I punched hard
Wildly
Blindly
So hard, my shadowed arm hurt
But the glass didn’t shatter
Nor could I step over my bound
Or beyond…

I am still gazing
Wide-eyed
Mystified
At the form that made me
But all I see is a void
A void that hears nothing
Feels nothing…Is nothing…

A void
To avoid…

PS: I have no idea why my fictional pieces are turning out so dark these days (maybe it’s due to excess watching of Criminal Minds – the TV series :))… I hope my writing lightens up… soon! 🙂

And my fave!

If Calvin can be
Spaceman Spiff
And dodge aliens rough
Then I wish to fight
My aqua fiends
By being Ms. SeaBuff

If Tweety tan be
In a little tage
Yet have the big tat twapped
Then I wish to be
A butterfly
With skies and wind unwrapped

Wanna be my Hobbes today?
Or my colored wings, if you may?

Once upon a time
There lived a wooden heart
He beat on with a thump
Tough as a stalwart

But time became his foe
Rings revealed his age
His splinters went their way
Brimmed with rampant rage

After many wars
When mildew he had earned,
A match of spite was struck
And heart-o-wood was burned

A small ‘hi’
popped on a window
Set my heart racing
skipping a few beats
every now and then
Melted all worries
Sent me into space
…and back too…
Got my head spinning
(not the space ride,
but that ‘hi’)
Formed a glazed sheet
over my round eyes
Made my fingers go numb
So numb… that…
“You there?”
almost went unnoticed

But it didn’t!
And I jumped back
to reality…
to being me..
to the blinking cursor…
to that glowing screen…
to him…
And feverishly,
with mock sternness,
I fumbled,
“Yup.. right here..
Wassup?”

Maybe he sensed my madness
Or maybe he didn’t…
Time will tell
Meanwhile,
I’ll just smile…
(sigh)
And dream about him,
his tall dark silhouette
smiling back at me
from the other side
of virtual reality…

Late into the night it was
Well beyond midnight I thought
In chaos, some peace I sought
But feared it was a lost cause

So I scampered and scurried
Of fleeting time, I worried

This was my only big chance
Just a few hours until dawn
Then I would be dead and gone
And from a noose, I would dance

So I dug, fast as I could
‘Neath the floor right where I stood

Tired and torn, I sat to rest
Staring at the looming clock
What I saw gave me a shock
Thought it was some crazy test

The hour hand now moved behind
And mode was set to “Rewind”

On this magic, I relied
Cast away dread, and burrowed
Soon I was on open road
With a new time on my side

There, a man waited for me
In my ear, he hissed “you’re free”…

A moment of intense heat
And then he was born
In no time he grew
Began his journey on.
He pondered all the time
Of where he would end up
He’d move, and would pause
Restless as a pup.

And then all of a sudden
A coarse blanket fell
Over his frail body
Sweeping him under it’s spell.
It crushed him through and through
Beneath it’s leaden weight
He tried his best to dodge
But it was now too late.

He died, like he was born
In a moment’s flash
He was that drop of sweat
Infamous and crass.
And just after he passed
Another drop was born
Into a world unknown
Of heat and cold and scorn.

Just until…

Tick-tock-tick-tock
Awake in bed I lie
Letting out a sigh
Sleep I so deny

Tick-tock-tick-tock
All is calm and still
But I feel the chill
Mind working like a mill

Tick-tock-tick-tock
Yet another flash
Burning like a rash
My thoughts seem to clash

Tick-tock-tick-tock
His breathing sounds so clear
By my side, right here
The rhythmic beats I hear

Tick-tock-tick-tock
I turn to face the dark
And hear singing of a lark
The sun has shown a spark

Tick-tock-tick-tock
Now my eyes they close
Somewhere, I smell a rose
And finally I doze…

A starless night
No one in sight
I was lost alright

On sandy shore
With waves that roar
My hopes, they soar

Squinting my eyes
I watched him rise
From seas to skies

One swift glide
Him by my side
My pain did subside

Two spirits embrace
Hearts out of pace
Returning to undead space…

A third choice, Cruel, Desperation, Fiction, Google Images, Imagination, Life or Death?, UDPS, Undead Poets Society, Voices within

From the deepest depths of my heart,
The darkest corners of my mind,
The deadliest pits of my stomach,
There came first a moan,
And then followed
A low, raspy voice

It whispered to me,
“You are too good
For this toxic
Dungeon of a world.
Spare yourself… Die…
If you go to Hell,
They’ll accept you with pride
And without a bribe.
If you go to Heaven,
They’ll welcome you with garlands
And ask for nothing in return.
If you are stuck in between,
One of them will soon see you
And will relieve you
Of your lesser misery – living.
But they’ll respect you
For having endured
That which we call Life,
And they, Death.
Or maybe worse…”

I listened,
listened and sobbed.
Sobbed hard.
Till I could feel no more,
Hear no more,
Bear no more.

One evening, I decided to stroll
Listening to my I-Pod roll

A loud “Hey!” did I hear
I figured, from somewhere near

I thought I recognized the face
Ah! Friend from college days

He was walking his gnarly dog
My heart became a log…

I waved back, but didn’t stay
Barely managed to scurry away…

What once was your voice that sounded so gentle
Now feels like the rattling of a million bones
Our picture that once proudly adorned the mantle
Now lies in disarray, mutilated with stones

You are a fiend. You betrayed me!

What once used to be a song for you of praise
Now spews out of my mouth like some putrid bile
Your smile that once gave my hopes a raise
Now sits as an open slash, and to me appears vile

You are cruel. You deserve this!

What used to once flow like a stream of love
Now spurts from my red vein, as green blood
My heart that once soared like a peaceful dove
Now flails, chokes and drowns in envy’s flood

You broke my heart. You slayed my emotions!

How once on a flowery path with you I walked
Now a blanket of thorns over it is thrown
Where once, we unfurled our souls and talked
Alas.. now the seeds of distrust are sown

It was all my fault. Only I am to blame…

Yet another time…

I saw the door ahead slightly move
And thought it was you who was returning home tired
But it was the wind thru’ the groove
Playing hide n seek with my senses already wired

I felt a gentle caress at the nape
And thought it was you catching me by surprise
But it just the lifeless drape
That had decided to soar to its rare highs

I heard a faint clang somewhere near
And thought it was you up for your daily tea tasting
But it was only the usual kitchen gear
That had lost its balance, and dropped into the sink

I have been fooled like so before
By elements and objects, and that’s not a crime
I shan’t be dejected by this anymore
And will still think it’s you, yet another time

I see a bird
An enormous, frightening bird of prey
Perched on the sharp edge of a rock
Its focused, beady eyes looking down
The large talons clutching something…
Something trembling
I see a hand

The bird swiftly dips its head
Digs a pointed beak
Into the skin on the hand
Blood gushes from this new wound
There are many such wounds
The hand’s now pale
It belongs to a body still alive…

The bird is looking for more
The hand suddenly moves
Blood dripping from fingertips
Like water off a rag wrung hard
The hand attempts to reach someplace
To the face…

I can almost see the face now…
Yes, I see it
It’s mine!
But how can I be there, dying,
When I am here, alive?
Or am I?

Is it only a mirror?
But it’s all in rusty sepia
Is it an image?
Is it a movie with my face in it?
Maybe it’s a nightmare I’ll snap out of soon…
Or is it?

I still see the bird…
Its eyes, its beak, its bloody talons
Only, it’s not a bird anymore
It’s a person
A gaunt wretch
My hand is no longer bleeding
But trembling nevertheless

Then I vanish
Where did I go?
The man begins to laugh…
A shrill, satanic laugh
He walks to his pet, the bird
Strokes it gently with his wiry hands
He lets out another horrific laugh

I still don’t see me
Where am I?
Am I lost?
Or in the shadows?
Am I hiding behind the skeleton of the tree?
Or beneath that threadbare rag?
Maybe it was a dream after all…

Or… was it??

Its one of those tracks…
that makes you close your eyes and sigh,
that makes you smile and let out a tear at the same time,
that releases particles of an untouched-waterfall freshness into the immediate air around you,
that makes you visualize a candle-lit lakeside rendezvous,
that can give that one moment of complete exaltation,
that brings back flashes of your long lost love before your eyes,
that fills your lungs with an immense calm which you feel like never breathing out,
that tickles your nerve and takes you to a new sphere of wilderness,
that lends a feeling of absolute peace that makes you never want to leave the insides of your car,
and that eventually leaves you in the middle of an ocean of conundrums.
That’s when you hear the division bell toll…

It was a dark night; Or were my eyelids shut?
When by me I heard a growl; It nearly churned my gut
The roar was too loud; And it sure drove me crazy
Beads of cold sweat formed; My thoughts were growing hazy
Then there was the second; Only now it was deeper
Sending chills down my spine; This one was no keeper
A rrrrrrip was what came next; Its sound filling the air
I clenched my fists tight; I was drowning in despair
Nails clawed in through my head; Or was it just a dream?
Dread was taking over me; I had to choke my scream
I then open my eyes; A tired gran I see
In the seat next to mine; Twas her snore that frightened me

An orange sun, a morning glow
Amid boxes, set in a row
Your looming shadow across the flow
Twists a lip, raises a brow

Blue skies, a cloudless sight
Vivid pictures painted bright
Your angles sharp, they scream of might
They make me weak, and my head so light

Misty airs, hanging high
Casting patterns on windows dry
But scenes beyond, they speak no lie
You reach out to me and make me sigh

When rains hit hard and moods are grey
When dull and tired define the day
You wisely look to me and say
‘Wear grins and smiles, toss gloom away’

Zillion vibrant lights surround
Some afloat, some on ground
You make them proud, you are the crowned
And by your spell, I find me bound

You tease, you charm, you mock, you lure
Of your intent, I’m not too sure
You make me bold and yet demure
Each look at you stirs up senses pure

You truly live up to your name
With methods deft, you ace your game
Standing tall, with your grace and fame
Oh grand Empire, you put the rest to shame

One moment there is order; the next, chaos
One moment I’m euphoric; the next, morose
One moment it’s a Yes; the very next, a Heck No!!
One moment I am on a high; the next, lowest of the low
One moment it’s spotless; the next, stained
One moment the jar’s overflowing; the next, drained
One moment it’s divine; the next, vile
One moment an abundance of hope; the next, all’s futile
One moment I have it; the next, it’s gone
One moment I’m amidst everyone; the next, all alone
One moment there’s dazzle; the next, the dark too still
One moment I’m in spring; the next, frozen by the chill

Is this really happening, or is it just another figment of my dramatic imagination?!

LOOK WHAT HAPPENED!!
