A paragon of hope,
A knight of the first order
He eyed his prized trophies
hanging limp from crusty walls
The assortment of knives
that swore by so many lives
The swords and the shield
that told him never to yield
He dreamt of past victories
Of lands he conquered
Of the people he ruled
Of the force he radiated
But he now silently smiled
Wistful, yet so wild
As he lay on a creaking bed
Alone, forgotten and unfed
With a hazed look in his eye
Proud
Ashamed
Baffled
He breathed his last…

Touching in so many ways.. Beautiful! My heart went out to the poor guy who doesn’t know what he did wrong by killing… sad for the fact that he is lost but not because he is alone…cruel as it may sound.
Kavita said:

But yes, I do feel kinda bad for him… 😦
Thanks for your kind words, Dhaami….

Wow, this gives one the sense that no matter what we do, we have to die someday. All that valor, all the great deeds we’ve done, disappear at that moment. Well his end sounds sad, I wish I could do something to make him feel less lonely. You’ve brought out the feelings very well and in a very dark manner.
Kavita said:
So true, Sonam… no matter what we do, in the end, nothing matters I guess… but in this life, all we can do, is try 🙂
Thanks for your insights here, girl.. it’s always a pleasure reading your heartfelt comments.. makes me feel very nice about my poems..
