Day, Friday Flash 55, Future, New Year, Night, Old year, Past, Present, Wiped clean, Year, Yet again
Another night so clear
Gently drifting by
I wipe her parting tear
And bid her goodbye
A fresh day now here
Waits with arms outstretched
I slowly daub and smear
A past that was etched
All that I most revere
I hold closest to me
And dust off every fear
A new horizon I see

There’s a touch of sadness here as you dust off the fear.
Kavita said:
well, when you realize that it was fear that you just experienced, I guess it makes you feel sad to see yourself so insecure and ‘unsafe’ from your own inhibitions..
Very nicely pointed out, Alice! Thanks so much for your observation…
I hope you are having a fantastic year, my friend!!!

While I drifted from light darkness, you moved from dark to light. I see exactly your point. This was well crafted and I like the positive energy in the last stanza.

This was bittersweet, dusting off the past and standing in the present wiping away the tears to see clearly now, it takes courage to let go and move beyond what was to something unknown but hopeful it will be better somehow. A beautiful creative poem for setting the tone for the new year. and a lovely 55.
May this new year be filled with much joy and a reason to celebrate your life.
cheers,
joanny
Kavita said:
Oh Joanny, thanks for seeing every aspect of this poem just as it had wanted it to be seen!! You know, I had originally written this poem as one for the new year…and then, since I had already posted one for that occasion, I changed the words (today) to make look like it is a transition from night to day…
So when you said ‘year’, it really got a huge smile to my face 🙂
I am so glad you liked this poem so much, my friend.. and thanks for all the kind wishes and sweet words here… it really means a great deal to me!
Hope you have a WONDERFUL and JOYOUS year yourself!!

Beautifulllllllll..
Very well expressed how one feels when the past leaves and the future embraces you to live in your present!!
Smiles.. That’s exactly how I felt on New Year eve.. The transitions kill me- but I fought with the emotions this time. I let the 2011 hold me and bid 2010 adieu.. 🙂
Like a fresh air whiff your words leave me refreshed.. 😀
Wishing you a beautiful 2011
Love xx
