Seasons change
Even friends estrange
Mysteries unravel
To places we travel
Paths make a bend
Mistakes we amend
Cells mutate
In circles, we rotate
Rise in demands
Heck, even Universe expands
A different breath
From life to death
In these winds blowing fast
Does anything retain worth?
Your parents, your past,
Your very date of birth
** Posted for Friday Flash 55, hosted by the ultimate G-Man! 🙂 Go pay him a visit, and also check out the other amazing stories written in 55 words or less… **

i think the relationships we make along the way, though we can not hold onto them tightly are what keep worth..and after them, the memories…
Kavita said:
Rightly said, B! And yet, it’s quite funny really… that of aaaaaaaaaaaaallll the things/people/events we come across in our lifetime, our birthdate, parents and past are the only ones that stay put!! 🙂

Great poem about the only thing we can count on – impermanence. Really nice writing.

Enjoyed the poem and do think the signature is a very nice touch also. 😀
Kavita said:
🙂 Thank you, Charlie… I think I am gonna make the signature a “permanent” thing here 😉
Eric said:
Worth is a subjective thing. Some people think a hefty price tag makes things more valuable, some dote on sentiment. Each has his own standard of measure. A thought-provoking 55, Kavita dear!
Kavita said:
Thanks for your insights here, my friend… Worth is indeed too subjective a matter! And I sit right in between the abstract and the materialistic stuff! 🙂
Glad you found this one interesting, Eric… Thanks again… I really appreciate your comments…
(hugs)

Enjoyable take on impermanence, though one could argue that parents are no more permanent than anything else under some situations. Usually not a big fan of rhyme but it worked as kind of irony against changing rules (i.e. impermanence.) Interesting philosophy expressed in the poem. Piques thought in many ways, something I always appreciate. Sharp poem.
crb.
Kavita said:
hahaha.. thanks for bearing with my rhymes here, crb.. it was very patient and kind of you! 🙂
As for permanence, well, what I really meant when I said ‘parents’ was the fact that you are born to a particular set of persons! I mean… no matter what, THAT fact can never really change… ofcourse, how and where one is raised, etc etc.. that opens up a whole new plethora of scope for change 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the read and found it thought provoking… these comments from you are invaluable to me!! Thanks again…

Lots of things do retain worth even in the face of change, but they tend not to be material things… Lovely poem and nice touch with the signature – I must look into doing one myself…
Kavita said:
You said it, Ruth!! BINGO!!! What usually retains worth, is the abstract stuff we are surrounded with…
Thanks for your insights and your kind words here, girlie.. most sweet of you! I am happy you enjoyed the read…

There are only a few things that are permanent: parents, past, birthday. In the end, these too shall pass.
Good stuff, Kavita dear.
