How I write, is mine…How you read, is yours

~ Most of us feel it, some don't. Some of us say it, some don't. Some may agree, some won't. Be as it may, the facts still remain.

He: Change is a good thing
when it is for the better
She: What use is this quiet
if it becomes another fetter

He: Our boring lives will now
take on a brand new color
She: If blue turns to grey,
things can only get duller

He: Wind plays many tricks
on creaky wooden stairways
She: There’s more than just wind
in the deceptive empty hallways

He: For my safety, I have
a pitchfork turned candle holder
She: But it’s always safe
to look behind your shoulder

He: It is now all ours;
this giant old house
She: But here’s known to live
the ghost of a vicious mouse

with hints of a fading moon

Festive is the mood
Crackers bursting, smiles floating
Not the time to brood

Aromas adrift
Tastebuds tickled by sweet treats
All senses too swift

Celebrating life
Joys and cheers spread across
Forgotten is strife

Earthen lamps flicker
Lining doors and windows tall
Stars indoors glitter

Glowing completely
Homes, bodies and hearts alike
Happy Diwali!

**A 55-word (Haiku’d up!) late entry for Thursday Poets Rally!! 🙂 **

*** For those absolutely clueless on what Diwali is all about, well, it is THE festival for Hindus, as far as I know! It’s also called the Festival of Lights. It is a 5-day festival, each day having its own significance ofcourse. It has a whole lot of mythological/historical background to it. But when I think of Diwali, I can think of extensive house cleaning (ugghh), decorating the entire house with ornate teensy mud lamps (Diwa of Diwali = a row of lights), buying and wearing new clothes (yaayy!), and distributing AND consuming lots of sweets/goodies (yummyy)! And last but definitely not the least, to those insensitive to smoke and noise (count me out!), Diwali is ALL about bursting crackers (tons of ’em)! ***

I molded myself into a sculpture
So I could hold your attention as you finger my deep gashes
I spun myself into a fan
So I could dry the teardrops teetering on your feathery lashes

I hid myself in a picture frame
So you could look at me and think of pleasant memories
I wound myself into a clock
So you could glance at me while still in your reveries

I melted myself into the floor
So I could feel you walk your precious feet over my self
I bound myself into a book
So I could hold your thoughts poured out onto my pages’ shelf

I stuffed myself into a pillow
So you could rest your tired and aching head on me
I infused myself into a chalice
So you could drink from my depths and replenish your energy

I glazed myself into a mirror
So I could smile as you groomed yourself, peering into my eyes
I finally transformed into a woman
So you could hold my hand, kiss my cheek, and catch me by surprise

He said it, I am just his echo
He meant it, I mean it ditto!

Yes, everyday is a rally
It brings us closer
Makes us pleasant and pally
And appreciate the other…
