And that October evening
when the sun went down
It took with it
a little part of me
That part
whose skin yearned
– in anticipation –
for the sting of your touch
whose lashes quivered
– with delight –
at the thought of you

It took with it
that which I once
held dear
Very dear to me
– half my soul –
