Gentle are the waves
As they beat against a rock
Making rythmic sounds
Like the ticking of a clock
Mellow waters before me
Assume a certain hue
As I sit on an iron bench
Thinking what I must do
Those fleecy white clouds
Having all the fun
Playing hide-n-seek
With a warm summer sun
I look beyond the ripples
And see the other side
From bridges, boats and sails
To buildings tall and wide
Planes fly over my head
Every once in a while
I crane my neck and squint
And wave to them and smile
With moments slipping by
Breeze strong against my face
A vacuum grows inside
I wonder what can fill that space
And yet on second thought
About the time that went
I relax, for I know
It was an hour well spent
