Fused in stone
Sometimes ceramic
Cold to the bone
And a touch metallic
Suppressing a groan
In manners emphatic
Our sins we condone
In an air too static
Frozen in embrace
Under a thorny tomb
Like a tepid womb
For muted disgrace
Like in a locked fortress
That is set on fire
We essay to digress
From a surging desire
While in this process
As events transpire
We’re thrown in a recess
Of life’s quagmire
Yet, silently we hope
To some day break free
To emerge and see
And no longer grope
