She’s pounding on my windows
I can hear her sobs
– her nerve twisting wails –
But little does she know
that while she is wreaking a havoc
with her disgruntled sighs
I am right here
Waiting
– helpless –
Watching her tears
flood my sight
Beating the walls
of my own pounding heart
Knowing
– we’re both trying to escape –
She, from us…
And I, from me…

Powerful write ~ I specially like the last two lines ~
Lovely photograph dear ~
she from us and i from me…an interesting twist there in the end kavita…which to me takes it beyond the storm…its scary though being in the path of something so furious that we have no control over…
Oh..that last line…so powerful! I’ve missed your words…hope all is well.
Personification, emotion, empathy,… can’t even get the big big words out. Damn that is an awesome read. Keep them coming more often, please
This gave me a few poetic chills! A fast paced, enjoyable read!
Are you having a storm over there? I hope not!
Lady muse in it’s best appearance! Scarily lovely! Words and image!
hmmmmmmmmm
but if both are looking for the same then maybe they can help each other
Wow, Kavita. I read this as a personification of a frightful storm (Sandy?) and you’ve created a feeling of dreadful anticipation. Nice to see you, always!
very strong. Until the last line, I had this immense image of one person loving someone yet being forced to watch their inner destruction. Then the ending, wow, what And, I, from me can spin, bringing the entirety of the read into a whole new light. Excellent piece. thanks
Kavita – poignant and heart breaking
It’s after a long time I am here friend.. and can anyone escape from oneself..and why and to where… wherever you go there you are… a sad poem Kavita..but then it succeeds in making the reader too..

Always always!!!
It has been a while dear Kavs. And your poetry is as amazing as ever!! π
A while indeed, girl! For both, you AND me!! And it’s always great to see a known face around here…
This is brilliant. In my own way I feel I know the experience your describing.
Oh.. thanks a ton, girl!!!!
I guess there are times when we are indeed trying to break free from the chains we’ve bound ourselves with…no? And somehow, watching the storm from inside my house made me look at it from this perspective sorta…
Glad you liked it… Once again, thanks!!!
A very touching piece. I especially like the use of the hyphens to separate the lines that come from your mind, which she cannot hear. I love the picture, although it threw me off a little from the words of the poem. I actually copy and pasted to read it without the image, and it seemed more powerful that way. Just a thought. π
How well the words match the photo – which came first?
Hahah…thanks, beeseeker! As a matter of fact, the two were initially totally unconnected events… But after I had written the poem, I KNEW exactly what picture (from my click collection) would be best for it π
Glad you liked them together…
