Plunging into
the familiar abyss
of scathing looks
Stung by
the gnawing tongues
of a raging ocean
Surrounded by
the jarring sounds
of a chaotic world
Cocooned in
a transparent bubble
of chromatic moments
They stand alone
– ensconced –
in each other’s arms
And emerging from the
stark clouds of apathy
are the first signs
of a fluttering kiss…
Posting this poem for Week 56 of OpenLinkNight @ d’VersePoets pub… if you haven’t already been there, NOW is the right time to do so! Enjoy!! π
“fluttering kiss” wow!!!
Real ones…don’t they just soar and linger around.. ? π
smiles…i love how through it all…love still wins…is that safe harbor in the midst of all the chaos of life….well done kavita…and always great to see you…smiles….
Yaaayy to the winner! And yaay to poems and poets!! π
Quite a delightful ending to the poem…some things in life are just wonderful.
Aren’t they? Now in only these wonderful were more in number and quantity than the negative stuff… sighhh..
Great use of contrasts in this Kavita. And the verbs are tight and very evocative in each introductory phrase–the picture also rocks. I was thinking it was a famous stained glass window somewhere.
hehe..thanks a heap, hedgewitch…
That picture – it’s nothing famous…it’s just something I drew on my iPad yesterday…and then later, I saw two faces in it that appeared to be kissing, and then the poem happened… Am sooooooo excited and glad that you liked both, the picture and the poem! π (hugs)
I enjoyed this poem which definitely shows the triump of love, as evidenced by the fluttering kiss….Nice.
Thanks, Mary.. With love and some hope, there’s always another chance… no?
first…great to see you at dVerse..has been a while…smiles…second…love your iPad drawing and third… ah that first signs of a fluttering kiss..nice
π Gee Claudia… thanks, thanks, and… did I say thanks?!
You rock, girl!
love this. especially ‘ensconced.. in each otherβs arms’ and the cloud-covered birth of a kiss. made me smile. thank you π
Thanks, Yelena… It’s always nice to believe that love can overcome all.. that belief should get us a tad more peace…what say? π Hope my theory holds some water..
Love the way you ended this. That is NOT to say I don’t love the rest of it–I do π
π So sweet of you to say, Susan.. thank you !!! I’m very glad you liked this poem…
Kavita, I love this. Beautiful !

Thanks, Heaven… it’s nice to BE at d’Verse.. π
ahh…the fluttering kiss… be still my beating heart. Loved all of this. Lovely imagery and the picture is very talented too.
π Thanks, my dear daydreamer… I can imagine you smile while reading this one..
Have a great week ahead!
Romance is the surest way to kick boredom and ennui to the curb. A fine poetic expression of this truth!
Very well put, Gay! Romance and love can kick a good many awful things to the curb indeed…
Glad you liked the poem…thank you so very much!
That’s the ideal getaway in a chaotic world π Wonderful writing!
Thanks, Neha.. I guess one just has to find a way out of chaotic situations π No?

Thanks, Kamana…
as everyone said the last line “flutering kiss” loved the image on the side of the beautiful poem π
Wooohooooo….thanks, Bikram!!!! That drawing was a fluke! And it’s really nice of you to appreciate the poem and the drawing together….
Quite an ending…wonderful poem.
Aww..thanks, janu…
Very nice of you to say that…
Wow, lots of tightly contained chaos in this! It makes me think of butterflies, haphazard flight. Lovely words!
Aah…butterflies indeed… Maybe they’re what inspired me in the first place.. π
Thanks for the nice words, Emily… β€
Image and words, both stunning! The end was great, who wouldn’t be mesmerized by a fluttering kiss!? Bravo!
Thaaaaaankoo, B… we do need such “distractions” to keep us sane..don’t we?! π
Peck… mwaaah!!!
This one actually drifted me away into imagining a fluttering… sigh!!!
Hugs xoxoxo
Awww…you crazy craaaaazy lady! Huggie huggie ..and a thousand huggies mo’…
What a fabulous ending!
Thankoo so much, Mama Z… β€
Kavita, nice to see you at my blog, thanks! The moment of the “fluttering kiss” – which implies wings of butterflies amid the cacophony you describe – is delicious. There’s something about that first kiss, about love blooming in the cracks of the sidewalks of a harsh city… entrancing. Love this, Amy

Hi Kavita! I’ve been working a lot lately but I stopped by because you are and always will be one of my favorite writers because of the imagery in your words. Love standing against the world is something that gives hope to those that do not feel they have the strength to stand alone. Your words remind me of this thought and surround me with warmth that is like a blanket when I am standing alone because I know that someone will make me feel the way you describe at the end of this poem. Peace be with you dear… keep up the beautiful writing.
It’s so very nice of you to stop by, 2z… I was pleasantly surprised indeed..
Thank you for the kind and highly encouraging words you left on my poem… As you may have noticed, my poeming has kinda come down a bit.. I guess my muses are out vacationing π But I have faith in them..enough to believe that they will be back sooner or later.. π
And till then, I REALLY can do with all the love and encouragement I can get! And when it comes from someone like you, it does mean a great deal!
Thank you once again, my friend..
Have a great week ahead!
Love triumphs, eh?
Absolutely, lady!! π (thankfully)
Indeed!
