Abort violence
Nip the weed
at its very root
so it never grows
into a symbol of vile
Decapitate terrorism
with a heavy axe
so it doesn’t dare
to raise its ugly head
against humanity
Make a promise
to honor the martyrs
with a handmade wreath
of bone and deceit
interlaced with perfection
Rally for peace
by tossing a grenade
and razing all
that obstruct the march
towards a bloody calm…
Guard with spears
Flood with tears
Barricade with fears
this winding path
~ to that dreamed of Utopia ~

amen, i wish we could see this in our life time or at least leave the seed of it for our children…great write and dream kavita
Kavita said:
Aah…thanks, Bri..
I too honestly leave the seeds of peace and love in and for our children… by being the right kind of role models… whhheeww..
Pat Hatt said:
Fear it will always be at odds, as Utopia is merely that just a dream. And rally for peace by tossing a grenade, something wrong with that picture huh?
Kavita said:
hah!! so true, Patt! Utopia is indeed a dream… but we are making it a nightmare with our grenades of hatred.. no? 😦
darkangelwrites said:
I loved all the irony: “Rally for peace
by tossing a grenade
and razing all”
Kavita said:
Woohooo!! Thanks for seeing the paradox here, darkangel… sadly, we live in such a paradoxical world… don’t you think? grrr….
The Borg Poet (@theborgpoet) said:
Another loaded poem for the day! Seems to be a lot of angst in the poetic this week.
Kavita said:
hahahah… really?! I guess it’s the global political situation that’s “inspiring” us.. 😉
Heaven said:
I like that dream for peace.. keep holding to it.
thanks for sharing this ~
Kavita said:
Oh yea, Heaven! I have my fingers and toes crossed for that peace… Besides, that way, I can’t even make war with another! 🙂
Steve E said:
“Dreamed of Utopia”…isn’t it called also heaven? All that you asked will be done, but not as we wish it, I’m afraid. “…toward a bloody calm..” Oh this is a good piece, Kav! Thank you.
Kavita said:
Thank you, Steve… If wishes were horses, I would ride one to Utopia indeed 🙂 – minus the wars ofcourse 😉
Kellie Elmore said:
Rally for peace by tossing a grenade and razing al that obstruct the march towards a bloody calm…
Agreed…its crazy! Saw a great quote once that said “bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity”… So true!
Kavita said:
It is… isn’t it? We seem to live among hypocrites and in a paradoxical world… bugs me, really! Aahh.. but I won’t go around killing .. 🙂
C Rose said:
Carries a wonderful tempo, almost prayer like. Enjoyed the intensity and message! ~ Rose
Kavita said:
Thanks a heap, Rose… let’s pray for that dreamed world of peace.. and let’s get there in peace, and without war…
Anthony Desmond said:
very powerful poem… loved the third stanza; that one really stood out to me. nice work!
Kavita said:
Gee.. thanks, Anthony… glad you liked this one…
So here’s to a peaceful peace, eh?!! 🙂
Uneven Stephen said:
Great poem and message here. This is solid throughout, but my favorite lines are in the middle stanza, especially “a handmade wreath / of bone and deceit / interlaced with perfection”. The image compliments the piece perfectly, IMO.
Kavita said:
THANK YOU, Stephen! My favorite lines too, those! Somehow, those lines came very naturally and easily to me… as I just KNEW how to write what I felt just then… whew!
Glad you liked it, my friend… and thanks again!

~L said:
Oh my talented friend o love the flow and way you used your word!!!! Love it!
Kavita said:
Aaahhh… thank you, darling L… War may be the language of the rest of world.. but we poets sure prefer “love”.. don’t we? 🙂 I wish everyone else too saw it that way…

You and Joni Mitchell with her “bashing in things for peace” from her “For The Roses” album. You and Joni — word and thought mistresses.
A handmade wreath of bone and deceit, one of the best poetic images ever.
Stark, stunning poem.
xo
Kavita said:
Oh my!!! What a comparison, Jannie! I am honored!
Glad you liked this poem, lady… and as for the wreath made of bone and deceit, I honestly hope and pray we can do away with that and replace it with a more genuine and peaceful one… *sigh*

Guard with spears

Barricade with fears…i just LOVE this kavita…and if we only were able to recognize the weeds better as long as they’re small enough to tear them out easily..sometimes they mask like beautiful flowers and before we realize, they’ve destroyed so much…a beautiful write
Kavita said:
Oh…thanks, Claudia…
And a thumbs up to the weed recognition… maybe some good manure and nurture can indeed make them grow up to be sweeter plants too.. who knows! 🙂
slpmartin said:
Love the way you’ve phrased this…part of it makes a very strong point of how we’ve justified war as the only way to peace…an excellent write IMHO.
Kavita said:
that was EXACTLY what I intended on highlighting here, Charles.. and I am very happy that you saw and recognized it and liked the way I wrote it… thank you so much, my friend…
Apparently, our was of getting towards peace are frightfully scarred! 😦
wolfsrosebud said:
Great expression in your piece… thoughtful, but reflective.
Kavita said:
It was certainly reflective, wolfrosebud… I was actually wondering whether I promote war for the peace I crave… turns out, I don’t! Whhewww… thank God for that! 🙂
DW said:
You cant see me, but Im standing clapping and yelling bravo at the top of my lungs….amen sista
Kavita said:
Whoooaaa!!! Seriously?!?!?! Oh wait.. I CAN hear you, ya know!!
And now I am yelling back.. THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Peace and hugs, my friend..

Makes you wonder what the world would be like if we actually achieved peace. A wonderful write Kavita!
Kavita said:
Aahh… that’s quite a thought, isn’t it?! 🙂 I can only hope we get there by peaceful means though… 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Tekia dear…
(hugs)

so much to think about, so much truth. utopia would be nice, but I’d take something even halfway there. We’ve got such a long way to go….
Kavita said:
you can say that again, my friend.. *sigh*
when you get there, reach out for me, will ya? I will also try and jump in there..
Daydreamertoo said:
Makes you wonder doesn’t it. We all crave peace and yet, there’s still wars going on here there and everywhere.
Gandhi said “If we are to really want to see an end to war, we must first begin with the children.” He also said “It we keep on practising an eye for an eye, eventually, the whole world will be blind.”
There is no chance of peace until we are all equal and we have learned that the only way to achive lasting peace is not through winning wars but through teaching…love.
Kavita said:
Amen to that, my friend…
We are achieving peace.. but with war, it’s at a VERY heavy price…
I am all set to be equal and to love … here… ❤ ❤ ❤ …
It really is much easier and better than war… no?

Great message, truth spoken so vibrantly. Love how you put this all together, great flow and nice use of rhyme. The image was a really nice touch as well
hedgewitch said:
It makes you wonder what it takes for people to learn, doesn’t it? Thousands of generations of this, yet each new one seems to have to do it all over again. An excellent protest of reason against madness, Kavita.
Sharp Little Pencil said:
The irony with which this has been rendered struck this pacifist too deeply for words. Kavita, you should be up for the Nobel Prize for Poetry. Is there one? Then for peace.
Every word is true; loved the form, but most of all – love LOVE.
Peace to you, my dear, Amy

My European History teacher had a sign over his desk that said ‘The flogging will continue until morale improves’. This is a fantastically satirical write, thank you!

We do often say one thing and do another in this crazy world. I suppose we can each be responsible for our own behaviors and start from there to keep from being overwhelmed by it all 🙂
