His majestic self
perched on the edge
of life’s roof
in the lull of moonless nights
Unperturbed
He watches
the odd squirrel
wiggle its way up a tree
He wonders
if the deadly snake
will lunge for the sitting duck
He knows
it’s now time to announce himself
Feared
Revered
Is he, the silent observer

Loved your 55 Kavita…
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
heheheh.. I think I had better start pinning your comments up on my wall, Mr. G!! They are totally worthy of it! (hugs and thanks) 🙂
Indeed a perfect 55…a complete story that leaves the reader wondering …what will happen next? 😉
Ahaa.. awesome!! And now I’ll say, “keep guessing” 🙂
I’m tempted to say we don’t have many around here – until one night when it had snowed, the crunch of my feet and the owl hooting was the ONLY sound. It was beautiful – and I wrote a poem about it, now that I think of it. There really is something magical about them, and you captured it.
Owls are sooooooo inspiring… yea, somehow that word fits here! I’m glad you saw one at long last, Margaret… and even more glad that you were able to write of it…
Thanks for sharing your memory with me, dear… I really appreciate it..
You “caught” this guy perfectly. Time to announce himself, indeed! Well done, kavita. Thank you.
heheh.. thanks for the appreciation, ds… Always a pleasure seeing you here… ❤
Alright, I have a very big thing for Owls.. haha!
I wish to pet a few of those in a big space so they get to flap their wings at night and come back to perch around me. Poor things for the initial days, they would get no sleep..
I like how they gaze at with their round eyes.. hoot..hoot!!
lolsss xoxox
I loved reading about the nocturnal bird. If the owl is a silent observer, so are you. You’ve visualised every single detail about this beautiful bird and its ways in your writing. I really enjoyed reading this poem.
I love your blog layout too. it’s reallly cool.
Have a Great Weekend.
beautiful 55.
love the imagery of nature.
One of my fav among the birds! 🙂
Injoyed every word, the imagery is just gorgeous
A fantastic take on the strength and will of one so wise. It is in those still quiet hours of the moonless night, when he, with amazing vision and precision shows his wonders to the world below.
you paint such a vivid image here with words, and the coloring you added to the picture is perfect!
Awesome! Your writing ROCKS just as much as ever!
Chloe xx
I do like this one! You’ve captured his cool and majestic watchfulness. And all in 55 words – bravo!
