Each in their own sphere
Some of conscience
Some of defiance
Some of a fear
Some of vain pride
Some of dull bromide
Encased in a pellucid crust
Of shiny crystal shards
Of watchful guards
Of gathered dust
Of a rainbowy blur
Of shades of overt pallor
Claiming a bill of singularity
On processes of thought
On the battles fought
On a dais of parity
On brinks of going insane
On matters so often mundane
Bumping into one another
In empty open spaces
In concealed faces
In hued smother
In edifices of love or hate
In a concrete sidewalk of fate

There’s a loneliness to this. Powerful, excellent words.
Kavita said:
I suppose no matter how surrounded we are, there will always be a little loneliness in each of us.. don’t you think so, Anthony?
Thanks for the kind words of appreciation, my friend..
brian said:
i wonder how much we rub off on each other as wel bump one into another…and what we are willing to let them take when they bounce away…
Kavita said:
haha.. that is something which I too have often wondered about, Brian.. 🙂 It’s really some tasty food for thought.. 🙂

As ever, Kavita, you prove yourself once more a master of rhymes. Playful and unique reminisce on the quirks of fate and humanity and the lines that guide and connect us…a witty bit, with clever descriptions and wordchoice. I certainly couldn’t have foreseen bromide coming in there as a successful rhyme. Nicely done my friend!
Kavita said:
Whhhewww.. glad you like my crazy rhymes, Chris! I sometimes get the feeling that, while writing poems, rhymes come more easily to me than not.. 🙂
As for bromide, well well… I really DO know some people that LIVE in a world of clichés 🙂
Glad you enjoyed this one, Chris.. and my sincere thanks for your words of appreciations.. it means a great deal to me!
slpmartin said:

Love that you make up words like rainbowy! I like this poem.. I read it about 3 times before I decided that I could interpret it.. Your poetry makes me think. I’m pretty sure it’s a good thing 😀
Kavita said:
heheheh.. Wordweb told me that “rainbowy” exists, Dhaami 🙂 I too was surprised…
As for my poems making you think.. hmm…don’t think too hard, my dear.. we do a lot of it anyway! 🙂 But thanks so much for your nice words here… they are most encouraging!!!

Timoteo said:
Quite an intriguing one, Kavita. The last stanza sounds like most of my trips to the supermarket.
Kavita said:
hahahah… it probably is too, Tim!! I see that happening many a time with me!
Thanks for your insights, my friend… it’s always a pleasure and an honor to see you here..
barbara said:
I like how you bring so many terms of science into this and place them on the same plate as loving and hating..and its meeting on probablity and the sidewalk of fate…nice work placing this all in a lovely flow of words…bkm
Kavita said:
Thank you, Barbara.. the nuances and similarities of human behavior is sooo intriguing.. isn’t it!?!
Glad you enjoyed this poem… I guess it was a result of what I studied and what I was interested in 🙂

A great use of a chemical parallel to express the social nature of people amid repetition and uniformity. Great work, Kavita.
Kavita said:
Isn’t it such an interesting phenomenon, Adam? We humans.. our social interaction v/s our individual mannerisms… I find it absolutely amazing! And I simply HAD to put in my observation in a poem.. glad you liked it too
Your comments made me feel REALLY good about this poem.. thank you so much, Dustus!!
Belinda said:
Intriguing and thought-provoking. I love the neatness of the shape of each stanza — I bet that took some time to get just right. Awesome one shot, Kavita!
Kavita said:
wooohooo.. thank you so much, Belinda.. well, the shape took a coupla minutes more than usual.. but in the end, I kinda liked what I saw… so, it’s okay 🙂

Kavita – you’re still writing and getting better than ever – this was wonderful! The words and ideas worked with the picture of bubbling mathematical crystal formation; The stanzas shape of flattened hourglass, as if you turned time into an anvil for hammering, just as your thoughts hammered out the words; the rhyming scheme acting like a mathematical equasion – put all this together, and you have a very interesting poem that merits reading several times over. Wow – I’m really impressed. Nice work!!
Kavita said:
Hi Cindy!! It’s sooo good to see you here!!! WOWWW!! It’s an honor to get such appreciation from someone whose work I really look up to.. thanks a ton, my dear friend..
I have always loved math.. maybe that’s why I find myself adhering to at least some kind of symmetry in anything I do… I guess that’s why I center-align my poems too.. could be one of the reasons anyway (other than beautifying my blog :))
I am really glad you liked this observation-turned-poem so much!! Thank you once again, my friend..
clariice said:
Hey Kavita! Your style is totally amazing! Not only was the layout framed like an hour-glass but the consistent use of preposition just blew me off! Can I ask about how did you get this particular inspiration?
Kavita said:
Oooohh.. so glad you liked this one, Clarice… Thank you so much for the kind words.. 🙂
The inspiration came to me some night as I stepped into my bed.. frankly, I have no idea how and where I got the idea from 🙂 But some words just popped into my head that night, and I wrote them down, just so I don’t forget them… and then yesterday, i opened the page where I had this scribbled, and then completed the poem 🙂
Yea.. I’m pretty weird that way.. 🙂
xoxo
clariice said:
That’s extremely amazing!!! I do have some words from time and again but sometimes they dont exactly link and it’s just bits…I probably need to read some more poetry to get more inspiration or get out more and get more ideas!
It’s more of the chemical component which you injected together with your thoughs that I am impressed at. At my current early stage of dabbling, I havent seen them as a potential combination as of yet…till of course I read your entry:D
Kavita said:
Wowwiiezzz.. thanks, Clariice!! I am glad you found my poetry impressive!! Yaaaaaaaaaaayyy!
siubhan said:
this piece has great language and is definitely thought-provoking; there’s something very…. molecular about it. I like it when you speak scientific-y, lady. 🙂

Glad you liked this poem so much, my friend.. thank you ever so much!!
