You may be good for
my bloated aching heart
But you tend to leave behind
a breath that’ll make my senses part

You know to add a tinge
of lilting flavor to my life
But it is quite a daunting task
to skin you alive with my blunt knife

You’re okay being sliced,
shredded or diced with my ire
And despite it all, you hang around
defending me from the most horrid vampire

You may have your quirks
Oh layered faceted condiment
And yet it is for who you really are
that I owe you an affectionate sentiment
