Drop of sweat, Imagination, Journey unknown, Path to traverse, Perspiration, Sweat, Trickling down
A moment of intense heat
And then he was born
In no time he grew
Began his journey on.
He pondered all the time
Of where he would end up
He’d move, and would pause
Restless as a pup.
And then all of a sudden
A coarse blanket fell
Over his frail body
Sweeping him under it’s spell.
It crushed him through and through
Beneath it’s leaden weight
He tried his best to dodge
But it was now too late.
He died, like he was born
In a moment’s flash
He was that drop of sweat
Infamous and crass.
And just after he passed
Another drop was born
Into a world unknown
Of heat and cold and scorn.

I love this. The idea that sweat is born and dies. That whole personification makes me wonder about what really makes us up. Can sweat or blood or tears really have its own existence? Very cool.
Kavita said:
I knooowww.. it really is quite intriguing..isn’t it? I am of the belief that our tears, blood and sweat too have a life of their own… irrespective of our comprehension of it (or lack thereof)..
Thank you for your insightful comments, Teresa… I am happy that you saw the poem as I did! π And you being the first reader to comment on it, makes it doubly exciting for me! Thanks once again….
Have a warm and gorgeous weekend, my friend… (much love :))

wow. this is a rather sad write…if i am reading it right…seems a bit of a pointless wandering kinda life…and he passes so another can come…shivers. i kinda hope i am reading too much into this. smiles.
Kavita said:
well…it is kinda sad… the life of a drop of sweat! He starts off…move on here and there, only to be either dried off, or wiped off! But don’t be tooo sad, Brian… he is reborn… many a time! And don’t start relating this story with human beings.. then it gets real scary!! π
Much love to you my friend… You are, I am very sure, kind and compassionate.. stay thus.. and thank you for empathizing with this poor guy too… I hope this poem didn’t give you disturbing thoughts…
Have a CHEERY and BRIGHT weekend, B… IT’S FRIDAYYYY!!! π

hehehe.. you are too much, Amanda! First, I confuse you. And then, you praise me for confusing you… awwww girllll…you are the SWEETEST!! MWAH !!!
But it makes me very happy to know that you liked the poem… yes, the comparison with a person’s life is entirely up to the reader… I truly thought about the sad life of that drop of sweat.. one moment, he is happy and flowing, and the next, gone! Yea, you are right.. people’s lives are not every different either.. Only we aren’t as helpless as those drops of sweat! We (thankfully) have a mind of our own! Phheeww.. and aren’t we grateful for that!??!? π
Thank you for your insightful comments, Amanda… it gives me a lot of inspiration..
WOW… you remember my poems!??! That’s an honor for me, TRULY!!! Thank you so much sweetheart.. I think I’ll have very pleasant dreams tonight π As for my next poem, hmm.. I wish I KNEW what I will be writing about! heheheh

u know, Kavi, if ur template puts those tags in the bottom of ur post than the top, ur poem will be even more mysterious and inviting to read π that said, this was a beautiful.. journey of a sweat drop π good one.. lolz..!
ps: regards the poem u called my attention to, i had that attention on the day u wrote it itself π check the comments, i mentioned how awesome that poem was..! π
Kavita said:
hahahah… you bet!! You know, I had thought of not putting those tags at all.. to keep the mystery alive sorta.. But then, I acted otherwise, just so my readers don’t get too confused π
But you are right.. if the tags appeared BELOW the poem, it would’ve have been way here – at least in this case π
Glad you enjoyed the read, Leo… And thank yooouuuu for your kind words…
Ooops… you know, when I was commenting on your ‘painting’ post, I thought I should check my post for your comments on it.. but then I felt too lazy, and simply hit the submit button on your post! π And now, I feel stupid and embarrassed! π But that’s okay I guess.. hehe
Keshav Ram Narla said:
I didn’t read the tags. Got totally side tracked. Now I know what is in my head today.
This was subtle and brilliantly crafted.
Kavita said:
Aww…that’s perfectly alright, K… totally understandable…
Stay rested, my friend…
Keshav Ram Narla said:
Sad.. One My childhood friend’s mom passed away yesterday. This poem added the touch at the right moment.
Thanks Kavita. I will try not to take life for granted.
Kavita said:
Oh… very sorry to hear about your friend’s mom, Keshav… That sucks!!
This poem was really about a poor drop of sweat trickling down, and then suddenly getting wiped off! But then, yes, the correlation to humans is most natural and apt here…
Everything is situational.. so I totally get it, my friend…
As for life, hmm.. we shouldn’t take it for granted… but we should surely LIVE it to the fullest!!!
Stay by your friend (which I’m sure you are).. he probably needs you in these unpleasant moments..
Take care, K.. (much love to you and your friend too)
May his mom’s soul find peace…

Poor lil’ sweat drop. I kinda feel for him, I really do. Well, as long as he don’t go runnin’, ticklin’ along MY skin. Then it would be like, “Bleh, die now,” before I stamp him out with a dry cloth. π
Love the anime pic too. I’m a big admirer of anime. My favourite at the moment is Samurai 7. Why? ‘Cos I like Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai and I’m a big nerd that way. π
Kavita said:
hahahaha… you sadist!!! π But then…well.. I too hate those sweat trails π
Maybe that’s the whole reason why I started this poem in the first place.. the fact that we so despise that poor sweat drop! So, I kinda felt guilty, and thought that he too needs a second thought from us.. after all, he too probably has a life of his own (I believe so!)
I too liked the anime pic… seemed MOST apt for this poem π I have to admit, I am not too well versed with the Anime lingo.. but I do remember watching 1 Akira Kurosawa movie.. forgot the name.. but I had really enjoyed it! Why do I remember? Cuz my friend had forced the dvd onto me to watch, and I was skeptical.. but then ended up liking it a lot! π
As for that “nerd” bit, I had guessed that a long time back.. teeheehee…
My dear Cass… I soo love her for loving you!! YOU BOTH ROCK!!! π
Anyhoooo…glad you enjoyed this poem, T.. your comments work some magic on me! I feel very energized after reading them (but it’s 5.36AM, and I haven’t yet gone to bed :)) .. So off I go .. NOW! Yea..right! π

Oh Kavita. Your choice of inspiration is daring. You’ve given sweet life to a drop of sweat that is more times than not unwelcomed. Especially in dealing with this NY heat I inserted myself and my perspiration easily into your words. You’ve given so much character to a drop of water that it reads as if there has to be more. Something else hidden within the brush strokes you’ve painted here. Fabulous love!
Kavita said:
Aaahh.. NY NY!!! Yesterday, I was roaming someplace downtown Manhattan… and boy…was it HOT or what!!! Thankfully, I don’t have these streams running all over me.. phheewww … I mean..ugghhh
But then, poor sweat too has a life you know.. and so this poem!
As for the “something else hidden within the brush strokes”… hmm.. human life ain’t very different.. thankfully, we have a brain of our own!
Glad you enjoyed the read, sweetheart.. your comments get my sails swaying.. do you see me on the Hudson? Yea.. the small boat in there? That’s me π
Have a lovely weekend, girl… party on!!! Hugs and love to you π

Like other commenters, I especially liked the last stanza. Great poem!
P.S. – I know the tags usually show at the the top, so I avoid reading them until I’ve read your poem. The tags tell me if I got it right or not (kind of like a self test). Please don’t stop putting the tags on your poems or I’ll never know π
Kavita said:
hehehe.. glad you liked the poem, J… I would love to see how you originally interpreted the poem… π
But thank you for your kind words… it’s very sweet and patient of you!
And no, I shan’t quit putting those tags – sometimes, hints of some clarity are really mandatory! π
Oh, what an idiot I’ve been! I missed your 3rd part to the Saturday story!! Grrr… how could I ?!?!?!? Opened it already… will read it at the earliest, and everything else that I’ve missed too!
Happy weekend, my dear friend.. Have fun!! π

Kavita said:
hehehe…thanks DP.. yea, it is the story of a poor sweat drop.. but then, life too is kinda like that.. but then, thankfully we can decide what we wanna make out of it.. unlike the drop of sweat…
I’m very happy to see you liked this poem, DP.. thank you so much for your insights and kind words… I most appreciate it!
Have a lovely weekend, my sweet friend… (love and hugs) π

Ooohh.. how I wish, Jade!!! Unfortunately, the scope of my art extends upto poetry, some amateur photography and some other passing interests…

Just got back home, tired and sweaty….and here I read your poem about a drop of sweat.
I can so relate to it lol
Every drop of sweat is struggling in its journey from birth to death, just like each one of us here. Great concept Kavita….very imaginative π
Kavita said:
heheheh… Now I am not sure if I should be very happy that you could relate to it π
But you are right! The story of this sweat drop is quite sad.. thankfully for us, we have our own minds to take control over our lives… π Else it would be kinda like the sweat drop.. no?
Glad you enjoyed the read, girl… Thank you for your sweet words…
Have a lovely and gorgeous weekend!!! π (hugs)

oh wow!…i had to read this 4 or 5 times to try and capture the meaning, and honestly i’m still kind of wondering —- in a good way!….what a great piece….wow….:-)
Kavita said:
heheheh… I hope I didn’t confuse you too much, 700… I was only trying to highlight the life of a poor little drop of sweat.. he traverses some unknown path, only to be smash by some huge paper-towel !!! And then ofcourse, one could relate it to our own lives… but that’s not necessary π
I am glad it got you thinking.. π I hope you liked it though… Thank you so much for the appreciation towards my work…
Have a sweatfree and great weekend, my dear friend… π

Those animΓ© characters sweat (and cry) in the most extreme manner. My favorite is when the ‘river’ of tears suddenly flows down their cheeks.

Yea.. those “rivers” are quite overwhelming indeed!! π
Hope you enjoyed the read, Eric… Thank you for stopping by and for your cute comments π
Have a great weekend!

you have such an imagination! giving voice to a drop of sweat… incomparably clever. π i love the last line the best: the “of heat and cold and scorn” just takes it to a whole ‘nother level of meaning.
Kavita said:
hehehhe… thank you so much, Siubhan… that’s very kind of you!!! π
Oh yea…that last line was indeed written to give the reader some food for thought π
Glad you liked it…

Kavita said:

I just wanted to show some appreciation for the poor drop of sweat whom we so often deride… and hence the poem… It means a LOT to me that you liked it… thankoooo

oops sorry.. but i dont seem to think on the lines of some of the other guys out here.. i found the poem quite funny.. and the pun too quick to catch… an interesting take on sweat..
BTW, can you tell me from where you get all these crazy ideas for the poems..? (i know, there’s something called trade secret, but, you can lift the lid a little bit)
Enjoyed reading the poem… π
Kavita said:
hahahah.. you are perfectly on track here, AD π
And I’m reeeeally glad you ENJOYED this poem… thank you so much!!!
As for the source of my crazy ideas, it’s my whacko brain I guess… π
No trade secrets at all… just some observation here and there, later combined with craziness.. and then ofcourse, for all those love poems, I just have to think of my boyfriend-hubby.. and all the romance surfaces .. hehehe π
Thanks for all the sweet comments, buddy…
Have a super fun weekend!! π

everywhere, in everything, the cycle of life, no? your poetry brings pathos to the story of a drop of sweat, yes, even to something as humble as that…
Kavita said:
Oh absolutely… the cycle of life shows itself in everything around us… so, this time, I decided to pick poor old sweat… he too deserves some honor and respect once in a while… we usually just end up wiping him off in disgust.. (sigh).. so this poem was probably a result of all that accumulated guilt…
Glad you liked it, G.. thank you so much for your insightful comments.. I really appreciate it all…
Hope you enjoy a fantastic weekend! π
Chris G. said:
Ha! Nice picture to start us out with, Kavita. Those anime characters are always good for exemplifying certain traits to be discussed…extreme tears, glee, and surprise among them.
Very nicely done. Always a pleasure swinging through the blog. Oh and that final stanza–fabulous! The most outstanding part of the whole poem. Quite an imagination you have! Sad, but splendidly done…it reads so smoothly, so perfectly. Jealous!
Kavita said:
I deliberately looked for an Anime picture for this one… cuz they convey a lot of meaning… and since my poem was kinda confusing, I thought the picture should help clarify some things.. π
Glad you liked the poem, Chris.. really really glad! Thank you so much for your appreciation and kind words… it provides a lot of encouragement to me.. I feel motivated to “try” out new stuff with my poems/writings π .. thanks again..
And have a great August weekend! (much love to you, my friend.. :))

I read this twice, concerned, then looked up at your tags and again at the pic – before I figured out what it is about… Whew, I was sweating over your state of mind for a minute there!
Kavita said:
hehehhe… don’t stress yourself over this, L… it was the story of a drop of sweat… kinda like ours, only we have a mind of our own (thankfully!) to make decisions… poor sweat can’t even do that. But I am sure he feels this..
Thanks for your concern, my dear friend… you are too kind… Hope you liked the read though… π
And have a fantastic week! π

Huh Doll it made me sad, but quite true that even our tears, blood are born then they die just as we will one day. Molecules don’t have an eternity to leave and just the other day i asked if molecules do cry, see you just answered my question Kavita. Great poem xoxo
Kavita said:
Oh yes, Julliette.. I honestly believe that our tears and sweat also have a life of their own… and usually, we don’t appreciate that.. so today, I felt like honoring that little drop of sweat too…
I am very happy that I could, in my own way, answer at least one of your questions… it really makes me feel very nice… Thank you for kind words, dear girl… you are very compassionate and sweet!!
Hope you have a beautiful and relaxing weekend!! Take care love π (many hugs coming your way)
