I molded myself into a sculpture
So I could hold your attention as you finger my deep gashes
I spun myself into a fan
So I could dry the teardrops teetering on your feathery lashes
I hid myself in a picture frame
So you could look at me and think of pleasant memories
I wound myself into a clock
So you could glance at me while still in your reveries
I melted myself into the floor
So I could feel you walk your precious feet over my self
I bound myself into a book
So I could hold your thoughts poured out onto my pages’ shelf
I stuffed myself into a pillow
So you could rest your tired and aching head on me
I infused myself into a chalice
So you could drink from my depths and replenish your energy
I glazed myself into a mirror
So I could smile as you groomed yourself, peering into my eyes
I finally transformed into a woman
So you could hold my hand, kiss my cheek, and catch me by surprise

A great poem about insecurity and just being who you are. Good work.
Kavita said:
You hit the nail on the head, with the word “insecurity” ! I just didn’t want to use it in the poem 🙂
Thanks you for stopping by and your kind comments, and I am glad you enjoyed reading this one!
Happy a great week ahead!

Oohh.. Thank you so very much for your kind words and appreciation towards my work… I really value your feedback..
Have a beautiful week ahead! Cheers..
brokenpenwriter said:
Insecurity is only the beginning – a girl seeking that which was missing at some crucial point in her life, trying to win it from her lover, shelving her individuality and serving herself, blank as an artist’s undressed canvas, offering her soul to whatever shape or structure the devilled lover will notice… and thinking these contortions have transformed her into a woman – wow. This is so passionate and expresses so beautifully women’s journey through powerlessness before they find themselves.
Well done, Kavita
Kavita said:
Wow Cindy!!! You have summarized it so well!! Insecurity indeed! But it also shows the unconditional love.. well, unconditional except for just 1 thing – acknowledgement of her existence 🙂 She seems okay with the idea of just being by his side, and looking for the best form she needs to assume.
Thank you for your invaluable comments, and your kind and encouraging words! They are much much appreciated! I am very glad you enjoyed this poem…
Have a beautiful week ahead!!!

wonderful…i am glad you ended where you did…and as much as each of the others are appreciated, not so much as the last…hopefully. smiles.
Kavita said:
YES, YES and YES!! Brian, you have said the things I deliberately left unmentioned in the poem (I think I even thought them out in the same words..really)!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT!!! I am very very happy… Jingle and you have echoed my interpretation of the poem!!! 🙂 As much as I liked the role and life of each Avatar, I too am happy where I’ve ended! 🙂 Actually, I wrote this poem for my husband, who proposed to me on this very day 9 yrs ago (I was kid back then…hehehe), and we were married 3 years later! He read it today, and loved it too… 😀
Anyway, I’m thrilled you stopped by… I am a fan of your work, and sooo look forward to your comments! Thank you once again..
Have a beautiful week ahead!!!

Wow, this is utterly beautiful and touches my heart. I love this! You have created something wonderful here and have given me ideas for another poem on the theme of “9 lives” :3
Kavita said:
Yaaaayyy.. I am glad you got ideas from this one! When I was writing the poem, I never had “cats” or “9 lives” in my head 🙂
I had written all the lines and had completed the poem..and later, when I was thinking of a suitable title, I saw that there were 9 avatars before the “woman” thingie.. and so I finally settled on this title 🙂
Anyway, I am really happy you liked this poem… And thank you so much for your kind words of appreciation.. They mean a lot!!
A very happy weekend to you! (hugs)

Kavita your poetry is just as beautiful as you are. Always generous and sincere in your comments, your piece shines with all of that and more. I love the nine lives, a cat’s curiosity mixed in with love channeled into a Pinocchio story. “I bound myself into a book
So I could hold your thoughts poured out onto my pages’ shelf” was my favorite of your reincarnations. I wish I could hold my heart beat’s thoughts that he keeps to himself more times that I would like him to. Such a gentle sweet and sincere poem. I couldn’t help but to re-read it a few times.
Kavita said:

Anyway… sometimes, don’t you just wish you could transform into whatever he carries around most, or something like that ?! 🙂 I do too..
But this poem was more of my way of telling him that I probably lived many different lives just to be him, before finally “settling” on my current one 🙂 Just my way of wishing him on the 9th anniversary of our engagement I guess.. 🙂
Thank you once again for your heartfelt comments and appreciation towards my work… It really means a LOT to me! I am absolutely humbled by your gesture..

I ran across your blog when surfing several weeks ago and find myself here again by chance. I loved this poem. It speaks so clearly to those who miserably try to be someone’s everything. From personal experience, I have learned that this type of behavior is more of an attempt to be in control rather than a sign of true love. Thanks for giving your poem such a happy ending!

I am very glad you enjoyed this poem.. Thank you so much for your kind words…
Although mine wasn’t an attempt to DO any of the stuff as I’ve mentioned in this poem, it was just my way of wishing my husband on the 9th anniversary of our engagement 🙂 It was my attempt to tell him that I probably lived many lives in many forms just trying to be with him, and now, in this one, I am a woman, and LOVE being with him this way too 🙂
But yes, I totally appreciate and agree with your point … people do the most weirdest of stuff to gain and maintain control in a relationship … Although that ain’t the case here 🙂
Hope you have a fantastic week ahead!
