He was standing strong and tall
In his bright concrete glory
Like a mighty, impenetrable wall
Then came along a puffy cloud
Bringing with it a shadow
And over him, spread a gloomy shroud
He cowered and shrank in dismay
Why do I feel dark, he said
When all around me, I see day?
But gentle breeze was passing by
She heard the tall guy sob
And gladly kicked the cloud goodbye
No more sheets of endless pain
It was now a sunny blue sky
And he stood bright and tall again
** My contribution for One Shot Wednesday, which, this week, is hosted by Moondustwriter π **
Lovely poem. I was just feeling dark today, but now feel sunny again! Seems it was written exactly to match my mood today π
Yaaayyy !!
Ok my tall building, it’s nice to know that I was your gentle breeze, and that I helped in kicking that gloomy cloud away π
Glad you enjoyed the read…
Cheers and have a bright and fantastic week ahead!!! And just lemme know if that cloud bothers you again!!! I will kick it REAL hard! π
oh i have known that feeling only too well….and as for the person that kicked the cloud away i doffed my cap to them….well written and thanks for bringing to One shot..cheers Pete
Glad you enjoyed the read, Pete…
We humans are the coolest actors ever! We sometimes play the role of the building (mostly), sometimes the cloud and sometimes the breeze…
The building is the STAR in this movie, no matter what! The clouds will bug him (grrr..), and the breeze will kick it away (hats off!!!).. but what’s to be done AFTER is totally up to the building!
So… cheers to being the star! And have a fantastic week ahead!
Writing for One Shot is absolutely a pleasure… the writers and poets here are just WOW!!!
wouldnt it be great if we all had someone to come along and kick our clouds goodbye? saw the tag for new york and this works well as a cityscape….lots of shadows there….thanks for linking up with oneshot!
You can say that again, Brian!!! How lovely it would be if we always had that breeze in our lives… but we could be the breeze ourselves too!
And as for the New York tag… interestingly, the view of the Empire State building from my apartment window was my muse for this poem! π Suddenly the building is bright…suddenly all dark..and again, in the next moment, it’s bright again! π
Life is just so…
Glad you enjoyed the read… It’s lovely to be linked with OSW !!!
cool. its been forever since i was in NY…did the arts tour up there years ago and loved it. letting the boys get a little older and we will be headed back that way….
Woww.. that sounds neat !!!
We moved to NY only a few months ago… from Dallas! And I am loving every bit, every moment of it!!!
I think repeated visits to the City is a MUST ! π
Best Regards!
like a wonderful rainbow after the storm..reminding there is still hope! Nicely written!
Amen to hope!
Glad you liked this one…. and thank you for your kind words…
Have a bright and beautiful week ahead!
Kavita, enjoy reading your work. “Why do I feel dark, he said / When all around me, I see day?” Sounds like a thought I had when I was very depressed. Yet your poem strikes me as positive and wonderful to read. thanks for participating in 1 Shot today!
Cheers
Gee… Adam, participating in One Shot is entirely my pleasure!!! π
Today’s poem was definitely about positivity… although the idea spurred from watching the beautiful Empire State standing mighty, then being covered by a cloud, and then “emerging” out of it, so to speak..
But it applies to us as well… and this was what I tried to say via this little poem.. π
Am very glad you enjoyed this one… and if it has helped (in any way) in making you feel cheery (inspite of those dark days you’ve had to live through), then I feel my job’s done!!!
Have a beautiful and bright week ahead!!! Cheers to you as well..
yes,
what fun to think of similar things,
powerful words.
thank you for the kind comments and encouragement!
BEST!
π
I knowww… it’s amazing how we thought and wrote on similar stuff ON THE SAME DAY!!!
I guess the weather and mood everywhere is kinda similar π
Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed this little poem…
Hope you have a fun week ahead!
Cheers π (love and hugs)
What an uplifting piece! The darkness often comes, but as it does, so too does it go–even our darkest moments must pass in time. I could see it as an inspiring piece for those battling with depression–but your tags also have me picturing NYC, which is a lovely thought I must confess, though I myself have never seen the splendor in person.
Another great One Shot contribution! You’re fabulous Kavita π
WOWWW!!!! Thank you (multiplied by a million) for this treasure of a compliment, Chris!!! I am gloating!!! π
I am really glad you enjoyed this piece.. Life is as full of ups as it is of downs… We just need to see them both! π
As for tagging NYC, that’s ‘cuz I totally owe this one to her!!! The view of Manhattan and the Empire State building from my apartment window is just lovely! Yesterday, I observed how the building stood BRIGHT, and then suddenly a cloud came and parked itself over it, making the building look so dark…but moments later, the cloud was gone, and the building looked glorious again! And that’s how I got the idea, and used this analogy in this poem π
You say you haven’t visited the City…well then, lemme tell you, YOU’VE GOT TO!!!! π
Have a bright and cheery day… and Kudos to OSW !!! Some amazing stuff there!
Now I know that I should have come here first thing this morning…before I wrote my poem, because I always feel so happy and cheerful after, you always make the sun shine more brighter. Maybe I should try and get more sleep during the night…a nightowl like you I think π It’s winter here and not my favourite time of the year! Thank you for being who you are, you make us all smile with your brightness and love.
Hugsssssssssssss Mwah xx

Hurray to her indeed! π Summer wouldn’t be half as fun without a gentle breeze…would it now ? π
Oh.. i loved writing this one, while watching a cloud cover the Empire State building from my apartment window, and then later watch the cloud move ahead…
Kinda the way life works too..eh?
Thank you for your kind and ever-encouraging words, Heartspell… I am delighted!!!
Have a lovely week ahead! π
Why he couldn’t kick the clouds? But loved the idea of breeze.
Lovely one! And am sure when I will see the tall buildings, will surely remember your poem π
Hehehhe… he probably couldn’t kick them cuz he had to make sure that the people inside don’t start wondering that it’s an earthquake! π
But thank God he has made friends with breeze… pphheeww! π
Glad you you enjoyed this read… and thank you so much for stopping by, and dropping a comment…
And if tall buildings will remind you of this little poem, then I will be truly honored and humbled!!! Wowww
Have a wonderfully bright week ahead!!! π
It’s amazing what the sun does to our moods and how clouds (which fascinate me) can just take all that bright away. I really liked this! The rhythm was great and by the end I was grinning π Wouldn’t it be great to kick clouds around!
heheheh…. what a cute thought, that ! Kicking clouds around! π What would we be landing our feet into??? Something squishy? Something cuddly? Will rain squirt out?!? Wooohoo… I am already curious!
Thanks for stopping by, and for your kind words of appreciation and encouragement… It really means a lot to me!
Have a fabulous week ahead, and enjoy kicking those clouds around.. π

Sometimes we just need someone who kicks the clouds for us goodbye – and sometimes we manage ourselves…
Have a great, sunny, cloudless day!
Claudia
You can say that again Claudia!!! Sometimes we need another to kick the cloud, and sometimes we do it ourselves…
But as long as it goes away, everything’s alright I suppose π
Thank you so much for the lovely wishes, and for your kind words…
Hope you have a beautiful, cheery and cloudless day yourself!! π
This is so true Kavita. You just never know when it will sneak up on you. I find myself singing the blues when I least expect it. A friend told me that when it hits, instead of fighting to get out of it; just ride through it. It will pass…
Make a Great Day!
Sailing thru’ those clouds is the best solution (kick to it) ever! Amen to that… π
Thank you for stopping by, Emily… Glad you enjoyed this read…

It was a pleasure to write this one too… watching the ES towering in front of me, the clouds move over it and then away… quite beautiful!
Have a wonderful and cheery week ahead!
“It too will pass”-the title says it all. And how beautifully you embody this experience in your poem of self-confidence lost and then regained.
Thanks a ton for your kind words and appreciation!
This poem was totally inspired by watching some clouds pass over the Empire State building.. making the appear bright-dark-bright! I later just used this in my poem.. as an analogy to the ups and downs in life…
But I really glad you liked this poem… π
Have a lovely and bright weekend!

Really well executed
Gee.. thanks a bunch!! Am glad you liked the read… Was totally inspired by the Empire State and the cloud-play over it π

Hey lady – I loved this. It’s easy to forget that even the strong get the blues and need support. Regards…
Woohooo… Glad you liked it! Doesn’t it kinda go hand-in-hand with your “Confidence” ? Well… similar themes… don’t you think ?
What can I say?! Great minds.. bla bla… π
And yes! Everyone needs support once in a while.. no matter how strong they are!
Have a fabulous weekend!
No matter how strong we might be at some point, sometimes a puffy cloud can be sufficient to turn our world up-side downβ¦happily, clouds donβt last to long π
It too will passβ¦very well said, beautiful and funny.
Have a nice weekend!
