Annoying, Bothersome, Half-done jobs, Haunting, Incomplete tasks, Loose ends, Open sore, Tasks undone
It bothers you all day
Shows right through visors
Like that leaf of parsley
Between your incisors!
It makes you lose focus
From your targets near
Like a fly buzzing loud
Just outside your ear
It sits atop your head
Making you itch and rub
Like that open wound
Needing a cleanse and scrub
A deed that’s left undone
Haunts your sanity
Like that raw mustard seed
Stuck in a cavity
It comes right back to you
Makes you sneer and snap
You have nowhere to hide
It’s got you in its trap!!
each line very short and precise, yet open. very nice…. your mind is very creative.
Gee.. thank you so much for your kind words !!! Am glad you could stop by and read this…
Have a lovely weekend ahead! π
“Itβs got you in its trap!!”
Ain’t that the truth! π
A great poetic description of how things left undone can irritate.
Gee… thanks for stopping by, and for your appreciation towards my work…
Oh those incomplete tasks can really get pesky !! π
Hope you have a lovely weekend ahead!
Nice words! Hate to admit, I certainly have felt this one too many times. Have a great weekend.
Awww.. thanks for the appreciation, Emily!
We have all been there, some time or the other! And if not… then, WOW!! π
You have a great weekend too…
I know exactly what you mean! so much to do, so little time! π
I knooooowww!! The number of tasks to be done is ALWAYS inversely proportional to time at hand! I wonder how…
Sometimes I feel like attending some time management course…but who has the time!!! π
Anyway, thanks for stopping by.. it means a lot to me!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Hi Kavita,
I thought I would drop by and visit. What a beautiful blog site you have. I can relate to this poem as I feel like this so much of the time! Thanks for putting words to the feelings, you are very talented.
Thank you so much for stopping by, Kira, and for your kind words… And I’m glad you enjoyed the read..
As for those incomplete tasks, grrrr…. most irritating! Really! Like right now, I know I have at least 3 half-done tasks to finish off… and I am procrastinating like crazy.. but they are bugging me all the time! I think I had better get to them before they chew me up!
Have a fab weekend, girl… π
I like the imagery of food stuck in teeth, it really nails down that same feeling when you have a task you can never get through.
Gee.. glad you enjoyed this read, Mark (?).. The food-stuck-in-tooth bit was how I got the idea for this poem in the first place! π I felt very odd putting THAT in a poem, and so cooked up this incomplete-task analogy … And eventually ended up even naming the poem after it! π
Thank you so much for stopping by, and for your appreciation towards this little piece… It means a lot to me!!!
Have a lovely weekend..
Yes, it’s Mark. Isn’t it funny how small things sometimes bring out such amazing words? Hope you have a good weekend as well.
Really funny ! But I am thankful they do… else what would become of us poets, I wonder :)… After all, what is a poem (many a time)?
Parody Of Enchanting Muses
Eeewww! I just made that up… horrid!!! Sorry…
HAPPY WEEKEND! π
Every line was so descriptive. I could just feel the irritation seeping from the words.
Thank you so much for your kind words .. π Glad you liked this one..
You bet!!! Irritation was definitely mounting …
So beautifully written and so very true…sorry so late with my comment…been too busy:) Have a happy weekend my friend π
Thank you for the appreciation Amanda … And PLEASE, you don’t have to apologize to me for the delay (although I was kinda waiting to see your comment.. teeheehee).. It’s weekend!!!!!
Besides, I myself was at the movies – hence the delaaaayed reply too..
Hope your schedule is not too packed for the weekend… relax, girl
And have a GREATTT weekend! π
As always, I love it. Your poems can be so visual with that dose of humor that makes it so enjoyable to read. Much love…
Ohh… thank you for your kind words… Am really happy you enjoyed this light poem… although i have to admit – the inspiration for the poem (some incomplete task) was not all that enjoyable π
But now it’s done with, and it’s weekend!! Yaaayyy
Hope you have a peaceful and relaxed weekend!!! (hugs.. )
I like it, a lot. Don’t I just know exactly what you’re saying π
π Thanks a bunch Cindy, for liking it AND for understanding!!!
Gee… those darned little things.. they hover over your head like a bee, and keep buzzing ‘complete me complete me… ‘….grrrr
Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic fun weekend!!!
yes and yes and yes and yes… everything you want to do but don’t leaves an indelible impression on your being. inspiration as always.
I see you are more than agreeing to this π Yes, they are terribly annoying!!!

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend yourself!!! Enjoy.. π
oh boy i felt that..and you dig hopelessly with your tongue trying to remove it onky to succeed in giving yourself an ulcer..cheers Pete
It gives an ulcer alright!!! I hope you don’t have any incomplete task for the moment… π
Have a fabulous weekend!!!
Well you’ve certainly captured the feeling! I loathe it when I have a task hovering over me, unfinished. It’s like bugs under the skin, or “Like a fly buzzing loud Just outside your ear.” Nicely done!
Oh, and by the by, hope you do not mind, I added you to my blogroll, because you’re amazing. Random. Heh.
I do not mind at all!!!! Au contraire, I am thrilled and honored!!!
And… ‘amazing and random’… Me loves!!! π
Take care…
It is annoying little bee/bug for sure!! Thanks for the compliment on the poem… am glad you enjoyed it, Chris.. π
Happy weekend!!!
I enjoyed that, Kavita, it summed up just how I feel sometimes! Well done!
Thank you so much, Jessica… Am happy you enjoyed reading this one…
I hope you are having a relaxed weekend!! Enjoy.. :))
Great poem! I know exactly what you mean, I cannot stand to have pending items on my to do list. It is a wonder my to-read list hasn’t killed me already because of this obsession of mine. π
Sometimes I even dream about incomplete work…haha.
You’ve captured the feeling very cleverly in your poem, great work!
Thanks !!! I too sometimes get dreams (well, more like nightmares) about my incomplete tasks… π
Glad you enjoyed this poem…
Looking forward to reading some from you … I have been refreshing your page for days now!!!!
Enjoy your weekend! :))
perfectly done,
take a break,
go shopping, dine out, have a movie time with your friend, then you may be interested in doing after reminding.
Thank you so much, Ji!!! :))
Heading out right now… those tasks can wait… at least till evening π
You have a fabulous fun and relaxed weekend!!!
Take care… and enjoy !!!
Kavita! I love this poem! Short! Concise! To the point! Like all the best four letter words!
hehheh.. I just loved your comment, Joyce… totally CUTE (one of those 4 letter words) π !!
Thank you so much… And i am really glad you enjoyed it π .. it was meant to be a fun thing (although the theme ain’t all that funny when you are experiencing it) π
You r lucky to get these much comments. I get less. Very less. but satisfied . i don’t get time to write poems as before as i am in 11th std now.

Sure thing Jingle… My wishes with them all…
Thank you for your thoughtfulness….
Have a fantastic week ahead!
Ouch! that poem hit home — like the mustard seed in the teeth– a great line and a good use of descriptives that are common in an uncommon way to describe irritability.
Will spend more time here in reading some of your other poems — I love the way your words flow so freely in a nice rhythmic way. Enjoyed the tempo to the poem which is an art unto itself, not many can carry it off well and you have done a really fine job of it.
Joanny
Hehe.. Am definitely GLAD you enjoyed this little piece…
And thank you (multiplied by a million) for all the lovely compliments! I am overjoyed!!!
As for those “mustard seeds stuck in the teeth”, God save the teeth, and the person they belong to!!!! Seriously, those little (yet terribly pesky) half done tasks never seem to leave you alone…do they now?!?!?! Grrrr…
I hope my other poems manage to entertain you as well… π
Have a wonderful and halfdone-task-free week ahead! π
ever since you came across my site, i’ve been meaning to read your poems. i am amazed by your use of words…very precise and creative…this one is so true, such a daily mundane thing that happens all the time. really hits home! keep writing. will visit often…and adding you to my blog roll π
Thanks a bunch for adding me to your blogroll, Amrita!!!! This gesture means a lot to me… π I am thrilled and honored!
Ditto to you too..
As for the poem, it sure is irritating to “realize” that you have tasks pending, that really need your attention. And the tasks sure make no effort in hiding themselves…do they now?! π
Have a fantastic July, girl…
