I looked on as she stood
All pretty in black and red
I smiled inside my head
It made me feel so good
Oh.. she’s stylish, isn’t she?!
I looked on as she drank
The dim yellow light
She looked like a sprite
In focus, with her swank
Oh.. she’s impish, isn’t she?!
I looked on as she moved
Her slight yet cautious gait
I was blinking hard in wait
Sitting as if I were grooved!
Oh.. she’s mysterious, isn’t she?!
I looked on as she flew
Her little wings worked hard
My concentration jarred
What happened, I’d no clue
Oh.. she’s nimble, isn’t she?!
I stand, I still look on…
But this time she’s not here
On my wall there stands a smear
By dancing feet now yon
Oh.. she is, but she isn’t…is she?!
Critters and creepers can also do with some praise from you. Kindly oblige in your most inimitable style. Your ladyship reigns supreme in the poetic world
Hah! Thanks for your kind words, Srini 🙂
The repeated use of the line “…isn’t she” is so good in this poem, adds pace and makes the last line even more effective. Really enjoyed it.
Thank you Sally.. am really glad you enjoyed the read 🙂
It was fun watching the ladybug and writing the poem on her… she seemed like she would never leave, and one blink, and she was gone! like magic!
Anyway, have a lovely day!! And thanks again, for stopping by..
She seems to be, therefore she must appear to be being, or at least be caught in the process of being enough to becoming what she might have been or will be be or could be even which of course does not mean that being equals to be in the sense of a bee being, for instance, and well, you know what I mean, or you don’t, anyways, this comment just is. :-)))) Thanks a lot for dropping by my blog! Hugs!
Gee.. LOVED your comment! 🙂 Maybe, dunno, is it? isn’t it? toooo damn goood!!!
Thanks for dropping by, and have a lovely week ahead!
” I smiled inside my head
It made me feel so good”
I do this too haha, it really does make me feel good 🙂
Great poem!
Gee.. thank you so much Lua 🙂
Those ‘in the head’ smiles are so fulfilling…aren’t they?! 🙂
Am glad you enjoyed this read…
Have a smiling and LOVELY week ahead! (hugs)
I love the repetition. And I certainly wasn’t expecting her to turn out a ladybug!
And I certainly had no intention of making you expect her to be a ladybug either! 😉
And so, I quietly tagged her as ladybug… just in case… 🙂
Thank you so much for visiting, and for your appreciation towards my attempt…
Have a wonderful day!
she drank the dim yellow light.
she looked like a sprite.
so breezy and colorful.
very fun.
Thank you so much for stopping by… Am glad you found it nice and cheery… The ladybug made me feel the same herself!! So, thanks to her too 🙂
Love the ‘twist’ ending! Isn’t it odd that we can still admire such little creatures’ design, agility, even inquisitiveness – but still womp them dead, away, in the end>
Also, as I sat down to write *something* for today, I took up your little challenge about Scheherazade…
Am totally with you on that, Lawrence… We admire them with our cuuuuuutes, and oooohhs and aaahhs… and if they accidentally fly towards our eyes or eyes, SWAT!!!! We are sad creatures…really… These days, I consciously make an attempt at NOT ending their lives miserably like I used to…
By the way, I read your Scheherazade, and have already commented on it! 🙂 It was fab!!!!
And last but definitely not in the least, Thank you for coming back to my blog, and for your precious comments…
Have a lovely week ahead!
