I had recently clicked this in Key West... ofcourse I Gimp'd it a bit so it "suited" this poem :)

Gestures flashed
like ominous streaks
of steely lightning

Words rolled
like metal beads
off a snapped nylon cord

Emotions flowed
like molten lava
from a furious volcano

Sparks flew
like limpid feathers
on a still Autumn eve

Silence pervaded
like an eerie calm
after a brutal raging storm

…. Then you were gone….
With the stars in my eyes
silently exploding
into a monotony
of nothingness
And all I could do
was stand there
looking at you
ashen faced
while you
blurred
into an
urn of
dots

  1. With my violin and piano muse today, your poem here is like a sad adagio, strings touching the chords of the heart … The image is stunning!

    • Kavita says:

Aaahh… am glad this one touched the soft walls of your heart, summer gal..
And for once, the picture too has my name all over it! hehehhe… glad i clicked this one… i loved it fit in with today’s poem… maybe I knew I was gonna write this one some day… :)

  2. Heaven says:

Seems like a sad ending…like these fading dots:

    while you
    blurred
    into an
    urn of
    dots

  3. dulce says:

Amazing… as you read down the sound turns from ‘volcanic’ to down down down -n your head. beautiful poem, Kavita!

  4. Pat Hatt says:

Wonderful set up, loved how you played with it and ended it with actual dots, that just added more depth to the piece right there. Isn’t it a pain when you have the words then they just blur away?

    • Kavita says:

You can say that again, Pat! Sometimes dots seem like the only answer to our terribly confusing questions… don’t you think? please don’t answer this one with dots..will ya now? :)
Glad you liked how this poem played out, my friend… your words here mean a great deal to me!

  5. My goodness, I thought you’d made it like an arrow that went straight into your heart.
What an emotion filled piece of writing! Great picture that fits it so well too.

    • Kavita says:

haah! Thanks, Daydreamer… Well, what happened in this fictional piece definitely seemed like an arrow.. didn’t it?! I am happy you liked the way the visuals turned out, my friend… thanks !

  6. tekia says:

A sad yet beautiful piece. Great imagery, as always my dear :-) Enjoyed the read very much!

  7. heart breakingly achingly beautiful Kavita.

  8. hedgewitch says:

‘Blurred into an urn of dots…” what a sinking sensation that gives, the ashes in the mouth from all the burning words…been there done that, never expressed it so poetically. Loved the whole thing, in all it’s pixelated glory.

    • Kavita says:

Really Joy.. it’s sad how we say all those things we NEVER wanted to say.. and then later, regret we said it in the first place… well, I guess this poem was just a representation of all those would-have-been moments that we spoiled with our harsh words.. *sigh*
I am very happy to see that you liked how it turned out, my dearest poetic guru.. thank you ever so much for such a wonderful comment and for your patience in reading and understanding the meaning in what I wrote… THANK YOU!!! (many many hugs too)

  9. brian says:

nice kavita…well as nice as death can be…all left and urn full of dust and memory…the soul gone on ahead of us until maybe one day..the structure of this plays well with the words…

    • Kavita says:

Aaahh.. the scary, the thrilling, the inevitable – DEATH! Well, lost moments are just as scary and suspenseful..aren’t they?
Glad you liked this dark and gloomy ride down this shadowy path, my friend…

  10. ‘into a monotony
    of nothingness’

I also really responded to the dots at the end, everything good we try to build up will disintegrate, entropy always wins. Potent and that pixelated picture made my face twitch with discomfort, what an incredible package you’ve given us tonight!

    • Kavita says:

OUCH! It made you twitch, eh? Well well.. maybe that’s what I had intended originally anyway.. :) Thanks for this superbly positive and encouraging comment, Anna… I really appreciate it!
Entropy wins indeed.. (if we allow it so) … *sigh*

  11. slpmartin says:

A much more creative way than someone ‘fading into the sunset’…really enjoyed this one.

  12. marousia says:

Fabulous vivid images :) Really enjoyed this – the ending was so apt – love the four dots

    • Kavita says:

The dots seemed MOST appropriate to me too, M… it was as if I ran short of words and expressions just then.. which is pretty much what happens (and how we feel) when we experience loss of any kind.. no? Glad you liked the effect it created, dearie.. and your comment made me gloat over the idea! Thank you ever so much!

  13. Gay says:

Great words to a pixelated image of someone walking – leaving behind that empty place where a few moments before was everything. Well said. Thank you!

  14. ladynyo says:

what a powerful dynamic of images!

You pulled me in and I stayed on the edge of my chair to the end.

    Brava!

    Lady Nyo

    • Kavita says:

Oh wow!! Thanks, Lady Nyo… it’s really very generous of you to say such wonderful things about this poem… Glad you liked it and found it riveting enough…. (hugs)

  15. ayala says:

    sad…sigh…nice write.

  16. Steve E says:

“While you blurred into an urn of dots……..” LOVE it!

    And:
Gestures, words, emotions, sparks…..silence. Oh, my!!!

This my final comment tonight–going to bed…and I’ll dream of dwindling down to…dots!

  17. Bikram says:

    why so sad ..

I pray and hope all the time that such incidents dont happen .. I would prefer to go away before all I care for and love … cant bear the pain

  18. expatinCAT says:

Ahhh! I also used ‘pixelated’ in my post. ;) A fine yet mournful write that diminishes just like that moment of love… // Peter.

    • Kavita says:

REALLY?!?!?? JEeezz.. I am so slow on reading these days.. but I GOTTA read yours..RIGHT NOW!!
Thanks for the empathetic and kind words here, Peter… you are a darling!

  19. mstevensson says:

I really like the speed of this one K. It starts out with some great imagery, then picks up pace as the lines shrink and shrink until nothing remains. The style flows in perfect symmetry to the content. Amazingly well done.

  20. your image is amazing and goes so well with this poem it is like a violin playing a song or dance on your heart

  21. manicddaily says:

I love the ominous streaks of steely lightning. The ending wonderful too. I’m not sure that you need the actual shape as I think words stand for themselves, but still good end.

    • Kavita says:

heheh.. At some point, I too thought the shape might be an overkill, but then eventually, I just let it be … :)
Glad you liked it all, my friend… your honest and positive feedback here is most appreciated! Thank you ever so much!

  22. Gestures, words, emotions, sparks, but then silence…… The life cycle of a romance…… bitter ending, as they all seem to be. But each one beautiful in it’s own right. A thousand memories just flew through me… Thank you…….

    • Kavita says:

A bitter ending for many indeed.. *sigh*
I can’t say I am happy that this one made so many memories fly through you.. and can only HOPE that they were all good memories…

But thank you so much, John, for such a heartfelt and beautiful comment… I really appreciate it, my dear friend…
(plenty of warm hugs coming your way)

  23. blurred into an urn of dots. Quite the image Kavita. Inspiring and very well presented once again. U define sooth. Always a pleasure.

    • Kavita says:

Smooth, eh?! Gosh, Henry… I am flattered! AND honored! Thanks, my friend… your continued support and encouragement are absolutely invaluable to me!!
      xxxxx

  24. C Rose says:

The structure and flow so delicate and soft to paradox the cornered pixels, really well penned my friend. Much enjoyed ~ Rose

  25. Great closing with the “urn of dots”
Love the second stanza, the imagery
The feel of the words when I imagine it read.
    Picture perfect too.

  26. Great job on the picture! I use GIMP too. :) Such a great poem too. I loved these lines:

    Emotions flowed
    like molten lava
    from a furious volcano

Sadly, I’ve had a few days that felt like that lately. :)

  27. deadpoet88 says:

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! You’ve definitely gotten better and better since I last visited. Keep them poems coming!
